Broadway 1991

Found this Broadway tape lying around so thought I'd share it with you. As you might expect the recording could be better but this is from the days when people copied audio cassettes over and over again..especially these ones as they were HOT..
Broadway were a soundsytem from Manchester's Moss Side for those readers who are wondering what on earth I'm talking about! These tapes inspired me to get hold of many tunes that you see on this blog so big respect to the Broadway crew for the nice soul selection!

Back to the old skool with this one. Wicked rhythm track to this..

Junior Giscombe Morning Will Come (MCA) 1990

Junior Giscombe's 'Morning Will Come' was produced by Simon 'The Funky Ginger' Law who did some good stuff in the early 90's. I have to be honest and say that this particular tune is very overrated for me and Chante Moore's 'Love's Taken Over' was a far superior production to this. As requested..

Massive Attack Daydreaming/Any Love (Wild Bunch) 1990

Was originally gonna post 'Any Love' which is a nice soul tune that samples the classic 'Blind Alley' by The Emotions..Then thought I might as well stick the A side on as well-'Daydreaming' which is more mellow and samples Wally Badarou's 'Mambo' which is a wicked tune in its own right as well.

Refugee Camp Allstars feat Lauryn Hill The Sweetest Thing (Columbia) 1997

A beautiful tune taken from the Love Jones soundtrack back in 1997 by the Fugee's first lady 'Lauryn Hill' How I have come this far without posting a Lauryn Hill release I really don't know. The Mahogany mix samples Rhythm Heritage's 'Theme From SWAT'

Mase Featuring Total What You Want (Bad Boy) 1998

Never thought much of his emceeing skills if I am to be totally honest..This was a wicked track anyway due to the catchy chorus and rhythm track.

Evelyn King Love Come Down (RCA) 1982

Classic Evelyn King from the 1980's. This is the extended mix and still sounds as good as it always did. This was on every 80's groove compilation that ever got released, or so it seems. I never get bored of listening to the classics..

Jill Scott Slowly Surely (Who Is Jill Scott?) (Hidden Beach) 2000

It's time to enter the 2000's I think. This is a track taken from Jill Scott's STUNNING first album 'Who Is Jill Scott?' This album absolutely blew me away back in the day, it's a real masterpiece. Real soul music.
